Hello everyone! In this week’s blog post, I give you a couple of tips to help you stay motivated in school. Read on to learn more!

Staying motivated in high school can be tough. Your classes are difficult and extracurriculars can take up too much time. On top of that, you’ll have to find time to take a break and relax. It sounds nearly impossible, and it certainly is difficult to balance everything as a high schooler.

Don’t worry, I completely understand what you’re going through. Almost every high school student goes through this at some point, and it’s completely inevitable. Stress and de-motivation come hand-in-hand with this excessive amount of work, and it’s normal to feel like you aren’t doing enough, or that you’re doing too much.

Sometimes hard-working students are fazed by the tremendous efforts of their peers and can feel intimidated by them. This can result in a lack of motivation and self-confidence that you aren’t doing enough. On the other hand, students with a load of extracurricular activities can sometimes feel burnt out and feel like they’re doing too much. Stress and a lack of proper sleep can result from this.

Regardless of which side of the spectrum you’re on, you first need to understand that “you are you.” Everyone is different, and everyone’s passions and academic abilities are different. Some people have to spend more time focusing on keeping up with their classes, while others may not need to spend as much time. It’s perfectly fine to spend more time on one thing, and less on another. Always believe in yourself, and trust that you are doing enough.

What you’re doing in school is enough. Don’t worry about stretching yourself too far, and focus on doing activities that make you happy. If you’re not interested in any clubs at school, that’s alright, you can do something else outside of school. If you feel like you’re too involved in school, and want to quit a couple of activities, that’s also alright. Recognize your limits and take action accordingly.

Think about what you’re passionate about. Your career aspirations, your future, and how high school is preparing you for life ahead. Do you want to go to college? If so, what do you want to study? College allows you to study anything and everything, all while preparing you for your career. If you don’t want to go to college, what do you want to do right out of high school? Is there a certain job or career you have in mind?

Thinking about your goals and passions, and connect them back to high school – you need to get through these 4 years of your life for you to take on what comes after. But also don’t be afraid to live in the moment. You’ll only be in high school for a certain 4 years of your life, and you don’t want to think that you’ve spent it as a de-motivated student. No matter how hard it is, push yourself to enjoy your time as a student – you’ll fondly look back on these memories someday.
