How To Stay Productive Over The Summer

Hello everyone! In this week’s blog post, I’ll be talking about staying productive over the summer – something I have certainly had trouble with! Read on to learn more.
Finishing up an entire school year is stressful, and can take a toll on anyone. You’ve earned the right to relax and unwind, all while preparing for another school year. However, you don’t want to sit around doing nothing for the entire break – that would be boring, wouldn’t it? You want to do something productive and worthwhile, but you just can’t bring yourself up to it.
Trust me, I can completely relate to this thought. My school year ends a bit earlier than most, so I was out of school by late April. My sister had school until mid-June, and many of my friends (at other schools) were still in school. On top of that, it was still during the pandemic, so I couldn’t really go outside too much. I had nothing to do, and would just wander aimlessly around the house.
It was almost two weeks before I came to a realization that I couldn’t spend the rest of the summer like that. I needed to do something. Anything other than wandering around the house, watching Netflix for hours at a time. But whenever I sat down with my laptop to do something, I would get distracted and end up not doing anything.
As appealing as watching Netflix all day sounded, I knew I couldn’t carry on like that. I woke up one morning and wrote down a list of things that I needed to do that day (and the rest of the week). Then, I slowly created a schedule for my upcoming week. I worked well with a schedule during the school year, so I figured it couldn’t hurt to try to follow some semblance of a routine. This ended up working very well. With a schedule, I ensured that I was getting something done every day, whether that may be working out, going on a walk outside, or working.
I’m not saying that this will work for everyone. However, I do want to point out that, in order to find out what works best for you, you need to wake up motivated and ready to tackle the day. Be aware of the activities/tasks you need to do that day, and try to consciously make an effort to complete them. Soon enough, you’ll find that you fall into a routine. While you may not be doing as much studying as you were during the school year, you’ll be busy with all of your other activities.
Summer vacation does tend to slow things a bit, and it certainly takes a bit of time for you to relax and realize how you want to approach the three months of vacation you have. I hope you all found this quick blog post to be useful! Please feel free to contact me with any questions!
Until next time, bye!
