Hello everyone! In this week’s blog post, I’ll be going over a couple of SAT Test Day tips. March SAT Test Dates are approaching soon, and this post is for those of you about to take the test. It’ll be a very quick blog post – scroll down to learn more!
It’s finally here. You’re about to take the SAT for the first time, and test day jitters are out of control. I understand that you’ll be extremely nervous, so I’m here to give you a couple of tips to make your testing experience a bit more peaceful.
Make sure your calculator is approved – Another simple, yet extremely important tip – make sure your calculator is approved for use in the test. The College Board website has a list of calculators that are approved, so make sure you refer to it before taking your calculator to the test. Most test centers will have spares in case a student’s isn’t approved, but there’s no guarantee. A functioning, approved calculator is essential to do well on the math section of the test.
Pack your items beforehand – The last thing you want is to not have your admission ticket printed out. Make sure you have all of your items ready by the night before. You’ll need to take a couple of things with you, and refer to the College Board website for more specifics. However, just make sure you have your bag packed beforehand.
Pack Water & Snacks – Make sure you pack water and a couple of packaged snacks to take with you. With the pandemic, protocols have changed, and most test centers or schools won’t provide snacks or water for students. You will definitely get thirsty throughout the test, so a bottle of water is essential! Most test centers in the US allow students to bring snacks for breaks, but make sure to double check with your test center before taking a snack with you.
Have a heavy breakfast – This is an extremely important thing to do! A heavy breakfast can give you a boost of energy in the morning, as well as keep you full for the next couple of hours. Testing will certainly make you hungry, and having a carbohydrate-filled, heavy breakfast is the way to go.
Arrive Early – You don’t want to be rushing to your test center on the day of the SAT. You’ll already be stressed about the exam, and running late is the worst way to start the day. Most centers open doors at 7:45 AM (check with yours!), so try to get there by 7:40. It’ll give you a couple of minutes to relax before entering the center.
I hope you found all these tips helpful! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns!
Until next time, bye!
P. S. Testing isn't the worst thing in the world! It certainly is a nerve-wracking experience, but using the tips I outlined will surely make you a bit more relaxed :)
