Hello everyone! Here’s the second installment in my series: the college application timeline. Read on to learn what you can do in the month of August to prepare for college applications!
Last month, I published a blog post outlining some steps you can take to prepare for college applications in the month of July. Now, we’ve entered the month of August, and that means I’ll be going over some things you can do during this month to prepare.
If you’re just starting to follow this timeline, don’t worry! Just try to incorporate last month’s tips into this month as well, and start from there. Without further ado, let’s get to it!
Tip #1: Finalize your College List
Aim to have a final list of the colleges you wish to apply to, and potentially attend. Now, it’s perfectly fine to add last-minute colleges to the list after finalizing it, but it’s important to have an idea of which applications you’ll need to work on, and which essay prompts you’ll need to answer.
Tip #2: Look through Application Requirements
Go through the websites of the colleges you wish to apply to, and note down their application requirements. Some schools require separate essays and short-answer responses in addition to the main essay.
Some require a certain number of recommendation letters from specific subject teachers, and there are varying requirements for courses as well. It’s best to go through the website and take note of everything you’ll need to accomplish in the next months before submitting your application.
Tip #3: Start Working on Essays
Now that you’ve noted down all the essay requirements for the schools you’ll be applying to, you can start working on your essays. Try brainstorming and having a specific idea of what to write about, and just let the words flow. Answer the prompts to the best of your abilities, and try to be yourself. Write as if you were talking, and try to have your essay set you apart from the rest of the applicants.
I hope you’ve all found this post useful! Please feel free to contact me with any questions!
Until next time, bye!
